Cagrilintide

Cagrilintide is a long-acting synthetic analogue of amylin, a 37-amino acid peptide co-secreted with insulin from pancreatic beta cells. Natural amylin plays a role in regulating postprandial glucose excursions, gastric emptying, and satiety signaling through amylin receptors in the area postrema and hypothalamus. Cagrilintide has been engineered with structural modifications to extend its half-life suitable for once-weekly administration in research protocols.

Research has examined Cagrilintide for its potential to complement GLP-1 receptor agonism by acting through a complementary satiety pathway.
