Melanotan II (MT-2)

Melanotan II (MT-2) is a synthetic analogue of the endogenous peptide alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (?-MSH). It is a cyclic heptapeptide that acts as a potent, non-selective agonist at melanocortin receptors (MC1R through MC5R). Its development arose from research into skin pigmentation mechanisms and the broader biology of melanocortin receptor systems.

Researchers have studied Melanotan II extensively for its effects at multiple melanocortin receptor subtypes.
